After the Congress tour, you are invited to join us for a special Public Lecture featuring three internationally recognised molecular scientists. You will learn about their career path and research interests and see where a career in science can take you!

 

Dr Melinda Jingqi Wang is a PhD graduate at the University of Melbourne.  She will speak about her career trajectory and what it’s like to be a scientist.

Dr. Alexis Komor is an Assistant Professor in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California San Diego.  She will discuss CRISPR genome editing technologies, their ethics, and their applications in medicine, agriculture, and basic research.

Dr. Rhys Grinter is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne.  He will discuss his innovative work in the field of structural microbiology, including how bacteria survive starvation by extracting energy directly from the air.
