Molecular evidence for human evolution – Online course

In this course, we investigate molecular evidence for human evolution.  We begin by exploring the concept of molecular homology and how phylogenetic trees are constructed from nucleotide sequence data.  You will then use mitochondrial gene sequences to generate a phylogenetic tree for the hominoids using online bioinformatics tools.  Finally, we investigate the relationships between modern humans and ancient hominins using nuclear genome data.
