Stories of cell death and malfunctions in apoptosis – Online course
This resource provides examples of why we need apoptosis. Explore why it is important in embryonic and foetal development, its role in the female reproductive cycle, how it is necessary to keep cell numbers in balance and its importance to ensure we destroy cells that present a threat to the body. For each example provided you will consider what might occur if there is a malfunction in apoptosis. Will this lead to disease?
You can find out more about the process of apoptosis through participation in our student course titled “Apoptosis pathways: keeping the balance and removing rogue cells”.
Year level - This course has been designed for students in VCE Biology but some parts may go into greater depth than required in the study design.
Time - It is estimated to take 80 minutes to complete the course.
