1. What is a GTAC video conferencing program?

A GTAC video conferencing program involves GTAC education officers located at GTAC connecting to your students in your classroom through the Cisco Webex video conferencing hardware and software.

GTAC are livestreamed into your classroom, and the students are livestreamed into GTAC. This connection is combined with hands on student materials provided by GTAC to carry out investigations and provide access to authentic science techniques, current research and real-life applications. Cisco Webex video conferencing units have been placed in Victorian Government schools by the Department of Education and Training.

 

2. Why video conference with GTAC?

GTAC offers video conferencing programs that deliver exciting student experiences to your classroom! The GTAC team will work with you, leading activities, providing the materials, resources and lesson plan, and you’ll provide essential support to students.

Connecting with GTAC through Cisco Webex video conferencing units allows students to:

  • Conduct investigations using resources sent to your school
  • Explore contemporary science
  • Connect with world leading scientific researchers. Schools are often invited to join us in a virtual conference room with other participating schools to listen to and interact with eminent scientists.
  • Use innovative curriculum aligned resources and activities

 

3. How to participate in Video conferencing programs:

  • Register using our online booking form.
  •  GTAC will contact you to confirm your booking date and time.
  •  If required GTAC will courier/email resources to your school.
  •  GTAC will connect with you and your students in your class using the Cisco Webex video conferencing units. (GTAC can provide support for you to become familar with this equipment)

5. Who is eligible?

All schools are eligible for video conferencing programs however, schools classified as rural Government or metropolitan Government disadvantaged (according to the Department of Education and Training classifications) receive the programs without charge. You can contact us if you are unsure about your classification status. The charge for all other schools is dependent on the program.
